Spanish citrus prices rise at the end of 2022

According to the Weekly Fruit and Vegetable Price report of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Food for week 52 of 2022 (December 26-January 1), in the last week of 2022, the prices of all citrus fruits increased and continued to be higher than in previous seasons.

Orange
Navel orange prices at origin increased by 7% over the previous week and by 101.3% when compared to 2021, standing at € 27.52/100 kg. Their price after leaving the processing plants was € 69.25/100 kg, i.e. 2.7% more than in week 51 and 40.3% higher than in the same week of 2021. These are the highest prices achieved in the last 10 campaigns.

Small citrus fruit
Clementine prices at origin increased by 3.5% over the previous week and by 35.1% over 2021, while its prices after being output from the processing plants increased by 11% over the previous week and by 24.0% over 2021. Clementines’ prices at origin stood at € 45.82/100 kg and at € 95.64/100 kg at the processing plants, the highest they’ve been in the last 10 campaigns.

Mandarin prices at origin stood at € 60.19/100 kg, i.e. only 0.8% more than in the previous week and 35.7% higher than in the previous season. Their price at the processing facilities stood at € 129.28/kg, i.e. 14.5% more than the previous week and 35.9% more than in the same week of the previous year.

Lemon
Finally, lemon broke the downward trend of the past weeks and its price increased by 2.5% at origin and by 0.2% after being processed over the previous campaign, standing at €36.23/100 kg and €121.81/100 kg, respectively.
